Event Services Internship
Employment Period: August 2023– August 2024 (with the possibility to extend)

Hourly Rate: $12.00/hr
Conferences and Event Services offers UT and Pellissippi students a paid internship opportunity to enhance their academic learning experience in a real work environment by developing management and leadership skills as well as learning to plan and organize conferences and events of a variety of sizes and types. UT Conferences and the Conference Center provide professional meeting and event management services, conference facilities, and dining services for businesses, professional groups and educational organizations from the University and the private sector. The department is a one-stop shop providing all clients with one contract, one contact, and one bill for their conference or event.
Requirements
· Must be enrolled either full-time or part-time in college coursework
· Must be in good disciplinary standing with the University
· Must be available for 15-20 hours per week including evenings and weekends
· Must have a valid driver’s license
· Must successfully pass a background check
· Must be able to commit with acceptable availability from August 2021 - August 2022

Job Responsibilities & Duties:
· Provide on-site logistics management and assistance
· Delivery, set-up, and pick-up of A/V and other equipment
· Assist with transportation of clients and participants around campus, downtown, and to/from the airport
· Set-up and Clean-up of meeting spaces
· Back-of-House duties for catered events
· Assist with pre-registration and on-site registration services, including data entry as needed.
· General office duties, phone coverage, and providing excellent customer service to our clients and participants
· Provide on-call assistance in order to accommodate larger groups
· Assist with projects/tasks related to larger, more complex conferences and events
· Assist with the management and implementation of Virtual Events
· Other duties as assigned
Experiences Gained
· Working with diverse groups of clients, vendors, event facilities, and participants.
· Event Management skills in a variety of settings.
· Working with professional culinary staff in full-service kitchen
· Practicing excellent written and oral communication skills
· Developing a greater knowledge of the University of Tennessee and Knoxville area
· Building connections with individuals on local, state, national, and international levels
